Representing Trade Ocean

Paula Giusti, Trade Ocean’s Ships Agency Marketing Executive, visited Antwerp recently.

Paula attended the WWSA (World Wide Shipping Agency) General Assembly. This WWSA is a global shipping information exchange, representing the interests of member ship owners and ships agency companies.

While in Antwerp, Paula also visited the 2015 Breakbulk Exhibition. With over 300 exhibitors and 6 000 participants, this is the largest of its kind in Europe. Delegates include representatives of logistics providers, ground transportation, ports and terminals, ocean carriers and freight forwarders amongst others.

Not many South African companies attended. “It was important that Trade Ocean was there. As a leading ships agency, one needs to keep in touch with the industry and importantly, build an international network.”

Valuable contacts were made. “This is a very competitive market. It was great to introduce Trade Ocean to role players and importantly, identify the right people to talk to. These are all valuable networks for Trade Ocean’s ships agency.”

The port of Antwerp is one of the biggest in the world. “The city is nice and clean. The old Diamond district is famous for its jewelry and diamond shops. Nice food and ice cream shops run by Italians.”

Paula also visited Brussels to meet with a ships agency client. “Trade Ocean’s ships agency clients are obviously found all over the world. We’re in regular contact but it’s always good to meet them face to face in their own environment.”
