GENCO Business Development Supervisor

Purpose

Instrumental in developing and executing the company’s commercial/operational strategy for the GENCO Vertical, to drive revenue growth and enhance market share in the airfreight industry. Reporting to the Operations Director, with a key role in dealing with clients’ shipments/forecast and fostering strategic partnerships.

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

  • National Certificate / Advanced Diploma / B Tech Degree / Bachelor’s Degree
  • Degree in Freight / Transport Management would be advantageous.
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 7 years in a similar senior commercial role
  • Over 15 years in the Supply Chain, Shipping, Airfreight, and Logistics industry

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Commercial Strategy Development

  • Design and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy aligned with company goals
  • Drive growth and profitability through new and existing GENCO client acquisition
  • Ensure competitive pricing and service offerings
  • Expand market share and identify new business opportunities

Partnership Development

  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with airlines, logistics providers, and tech partners
  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements

Client Services Management

  • Ensure effective complaint resolution and client satisfaction
  • Promote a client-centric culture across departments

Unit/Division Management

  • Oversee performance and shipment execution for client portfolios
  • Engage directly with airlines on space, pricing, and operations
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and manage operational risks

Financial Management

  • Contribute to and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls and systems
  • Resolve IATA credit queries and ensure timely reporting

 People Management

  • Build and lead high-performing teams
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Monitor staff performance and coordinate development initiatives

Ad Hoc Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by executive leadership
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and special projects
  • Provide strategic input and operational support outside core responsibilities when necessary
